Viewer Voice: What's Wrong With the World
I watch channel 12 evening news every chance I get. You and your news team keep on top of what's happening in the CSRA and as far as I can tell always report the facts. I like that, and you always have some good news to report besides just always the bad.
I must tell you that our country is going down hill every day. There is too much government in the family homes and in our public schools. As I sit back and listen to the news about kids being expelled from school for fighting it just burns me up.
Back in the 60's and 70's, for fighting the principal would take you out in the halls and take a wooden paddle to the seat of your pants. After that you did not want to fight and you stayed in school. You stood up every morning and with your right hand over your heart, faced the American flag and you said the pledge of allegiance. Every day you thanked God for the food at lunch. Back then you were not taught to call DSS to your parents when they tore your tail up for misbehaving.
Today there are a lot of parents that do not teach their children any manners or to show respect to their elders. Back in my days, if you showed disrespect to any grown up, you didn't think about sitting down for a very long time. (your tail was sore) What has happened to the teachers today, they don't even teach children manners.
Do you ever go out to a nice restaurant to eat a meal and find parents letting their children run wild, babies screaming or children throwing food on the floor and the parents act like they just don't care? What is happening to our country?
Hey what about DUI drivers? I saw a news show last night where a Florida Police Officer arrested people for DUI and when they were tested, ALL tests showed negative, and the Officer is still working to meet the status quo.
I think that if you are DUI and get caught, 1st time $2500.00 fine and 6 months no driving. If you are DUI and have an accident and someone is killed and its your fault, you should be hung to death.
We need to be more like the old days. You were hung in the town square after a fair trial for stealing a man's horse or killing another person. Well this should be true today, steal a person's car and be hung, kill another person and be hung. This stuff of keeping a man in prison for life cost the tax payers too much money.
Who makes our laws? Lawyers do, who gets rich in court? Lawyers do. They are the ones getting rich at the tax payers expense. The people should make the laws and they should be written to where a normal person can understand them. Also when in prison, you should be there for punishment, not color TV, computers, games, making money. Prison should be a place that when you get out, you never want to go back to.
One last thing, we live in America and our country's language is English. Have you ever went to an ATM to get some cash? The first question the machine asks is English or Spanish? We live in America, if we go to another country, they expect us to speak their language. If foreigners want to come here to live, then they need to learn the language! If they want to work here, then learn to speak our language and pay our taxes.
Thank you for allowing me to vent.

i don't even know if this is the right place to leave this message, but i found myself watching channel 12 on momday evening and was apalmed by the statements of apple valley, being a gang territory or to even to posses gangs, i've lived here my whole life and are on its streets everyday, and i have seen no sorta of thing. for this news broadcast alone you've made my neighbor hood look horriable with facts that aren't true, i would expect this from other stations but channel 12, alway brings the facts, not media lies, for now on your show my as well be the tabloids if everything is gonna be made up. Why not next time speak to more than one person for the area or just watch to see how it really goes down in apple valley. there are plenty of neighborhood far worser than ours but yet where the lead story.
As I watched the channel 12 news today, once again the Jena 6 are brought to the fore front of the news. I lived in Louisiana for several years, and what I remember is there is plenty of racism to go around. As a white individual living there, I was the minority. I was also treated as such. The white students that hung the ropes in the trees were wrong in doing what they did. However the ends don't justify the means. The 6 black students retalitated and very nearly killed the young man. Attmepted murder is a far cry from hanging a rope in the tree. Lets treat this as the crime that it is. Lets take the black and white issue out of it. I would expect the police officials to do the same thing had it been reversed. The 6 young men need to be punished for committing a crime of attempted murder. Our congress needs to take that into consideration as they debate the civil rights issue again. This is a crime of attempted murder. The message that is currently being sent is we can almost kill a man, and use our race as a tool to get out of it. CONGRESS that is wrong. Send a strong message that this is unacceptable behavior.
