Talk to 12: Dumb Driving, Weather Terminology

In today's Talk to 12, we're hearing from viewers on Dumb and Dangerous Driving, and learning about the weather.

Ray says:

"I have a suggestion for the Dumb & Dangerous driving segment. The broadcaster could give a tip on the laws of the road. A reminder of some kind, like... The legal distance a driver has to turn on a turn signal before they get to the turning lane, not as they are turning into it. or, the one that really seems to bother a lot of drivers is slow traffic in the left-hand lane. Remind everyone that it is a law in GA. & S.C. ( you could show the signs on the road to prove it) that slow traffic keeps to the right."
-Ray

Thanks Ray--good suggestion. We'll be bringing back our Dumb and Dangerous Driving segments with Lynnsey Gardner soon. You can email your tips to her at lynnsey.gardner@wrdw.com.

Judy wants to talk about the weather. She writes:

"My grandson is in the 1st grade at CT Walker. When I picked him up yesterday at school he informed me that his principal said 'the heat index was a category 5.' At least you can say the children are learning the weather forecast even if they get them mixed up."
Thank you,
Judy

Thanks Judy! I'll say this: the weather lately does feel like a Category 5 something, that's for sure!

Bob reminds us the categories are for hurricanes, 5 being the biggest, and the heat index is a temperature measure of "what it feels like". Today's heat index is 102.
